"Auto dialer software" covers everything from a call-center system that fires hundreds of calls a minute to a button that dials the next contact. Picking the wrong kind costs money, annoys customers and can break calling rules. This page explains the kinds, what a small team actually needs, and how Zorino's auto-dialer works.
The kinds of auto dialer software
- Predictive dialers call several numbers per agent and guess when agents free up. Built for call centers with 20+ agents. At small scale they drop calls and leave people saying "hello?" to silence.
- Power or progressive dialers call one number per rep as soon as the last call ends. Every answered call reaches a live person. This is what most teams of 2 to 20 need, and what Zorino is.
- Preview dialers show the contact and let the rep click to call. Good for a handful of high-value calls a day, too slow for list work.
- Voice broadcast and robocall systems play a recorded message. Heavily regulated, usually requiring prior written consent; the wrong tool for sales conversations.
What a small team needs from auto dialer software
- Automatic dialing at a pace you set. Zorino dials at 5, 10 or 15 calls per minute across the team depending on your plan, and you can pause and pick up where you left off.
- Answering machine detection. Voicemail is logged and skipped. A rep's phone rings only for a real person, who hears a rep say hello, not silence.
- A live rep on every answered call. No abandoned calls, no recordings.
- Your own business number as caller ID, included in the plan, so customers recognize you and can call back.
- Dispositions, callbacks and Do Not Call handled in one click, enforced by the dialer.
- Reporting per rep: dialed, answered, connected, talk time, outcomes.
- No hardware, no softphone. Zorino rings each rep on their own phone, anywhere. Nothing to install.
How Zorino's auto-dialer works
Import your contacts from a CSV file or Google Contacts. Each rep marks themselves available on their phone. Start the dialer: Zorino calls the list from your business number, detects voicemail and moves on, and when a person answers it rings an available rep. The rep presses 1, the contact's file is on screen, and after the call one click logs the result and books the next step. Managers see live counters for the whole team and stats per rep.
Auto dialer rules in the US and Canada, in short
- Scrub your lists against the national Do Not Call registries (US FTC registry, Canada's National DNCL) and keep your own internal list. Zorino enforces your internal list on every dial.
- Call only inside allowed hours in the contact's local time.
- Prerecorded messages and automated texts to consumers generally need prior consent; Zorino connects live reps instead.
- Predictive dialing is subject to abandoned-call limits (in the US, 3% of answered calls per campaign under the Telemarketing Sales Rule). A power dialer avoids the issue.
General information, not legal advice. Check the FTC, FCC and CRTC rules, or a lawyer, before you launch a campaign.

Which auto dialer should you choose?
If you have fewer than 20 people calling and you want every answered call to reach a person, choose a power dialer. If you run a large call center with huge lists and strict compliance staff, a predictive dialer can make sense. If you only call a few key accounts a day, click-to-call is enough. For the full comparison, read power dialer vs auto dialer vs predictive dialer.
Let it call you
The live demo dials up to 5 numbers you choose and rings your phone when someone answers. Two minutes, no account, no card.
Is there an auto dialer app for mobile?
Zorino works in the browser on any computer, tablet or phone, and the calls themselves ring on each rep's own phone. There is nothing to install.
Can I use my existing business number?
Every plan includes a new local US or Canadian number. Ask us about porting an existing number.
